Transpersonal Therapy
Imagine a World where there is NO FEAR ...
you can; if you try.
Now imagine
your life without fear…
you can…if you want.
The majority of people in our world are ruled by fears to one degree or
another. For many, it may be straightforward stress, caused by the
pressure of too much activity, financial or mental worry, blighting
their life and creating physical and emotional problems such illness or
relationship breakdown. For others, anxieties such as the fear of
failure or not being good enough; or insecurities about the future or
feelings of guilt about the past dominate. Still others are victims, not
only to stress or anxieties but to the actual force of fear itself. Fear
of sickness, of death or dying; fear of old age or loneliness rule and
control the minds and actions of millions. There are others who are
afraid of living, and more people than you would imagine are terrified
of happiness. The greatest longing in the human heart is for love and
yet the incredible energy and feeling of love itself appears to be the
very thing that strikes fear into the heart of millions of depressed and
lonely people.
Fear itself, however, is primordial energy experienced by one who
imagines him or herself to be separate and isolated – alone in the
universe. The root of fear cannot be uprooted through medications and
neither is it found by exploring past or future external events or by
designing strategies to avoid situations where the fear may arise.
The root of fear lies in the idea of being separate.
“Separate from what?” you might be asking. The root of fear is due to
the
absence of an experiential connection with the more powerful energy –
life force, or feeling – of the
opposite polarity to fear.
The primordial energy that is inherently the opposite polarity to fear -
is love.
The idea of separation or
isolation is the idea of the ultimate separation - from love. Connection
to the energy of love heals fear by transforming ‘stuck’ energy into
joy, or better still, bliss. Whatever the external situations may be
that trigger fear within the individual - and to whatever degree the
fear is experienced – fear is totally curable through direct experience
of the energy of love.
The therapeutic approach best suited to this arena of healing – one that
helps the patient to transform his or her experience of feeling and
consciousness – is known as
transpersonal therapy.
Other names that have been used to describe this perennial quest
to improve – to fundamentally change – one’s life through inner
transformation are terms such as self realisation, self actualisation
and psycho-transformism. We will use the term transpersonal for now to
describe the ICASA model of healing fear. The curative process is based
upon essential elements that originate in the transcendent domain. These
crucial elements are trust, breath, energy, consciousness, willpower and
awareness. By discovering the unlimited resources within one’s self
through connecting with these elements, the patient is able to
permanently change his or her state of being. The therapist who connects
the patient to these elements through step by step exercises and
practices must by definition be thoroughly acquainted with the numinous
dimensions of the human being and also of the universe.
