Sex and Cancer
A little-talked
about side effect of the trauma caused by body altering surgery and
exhausting treatment schedules is the devastation felt by the cancer
sufferer with regards to their sexuality.
Many women close
down emotionally following mastectomy or chemotherapy believing that
they have lost their femininity, beauty and attractiveness.
The same can be
true for men who have undergone surgery for prostate or testicular
cancer, experiencing feelings that they are somehow less masculine.
The Happy Dream Project makes the ICASA Sexual Healing Programme
available purely on a voluntary donation basis to men and women who are
suffering from cancer and its effects upon their sexuality.
Sexuality and cancer;
Sexuality and body-altering cancer related surgery;
Sexuality and the effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy;
Sexuality and the loss of a life partner through cancer.
ICASA trained team members who are specially committed to this Project
give their gifts of surrogate partnering, mentoring and counselling to
enable the Project to realise its objectives.
Additional costs are met primarily from the sales of
books and
publications, sponsorship, free will
gifts, donations and fund raising events.
